ADA and WCAG website accessibility

An accessible website that works for every customer.

We audit, fix and build websites to WCAG Level AA, so people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or captions can find you, contact you and buy from you. Real fixes in your site's code, not a plug-in overlay.

  • Tested against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 Level AA
  • Fixed in the code, not covered by a widget

Why accessibility matters

If some visitors cannot use your website, they cannot become customers.

  1. 01The problem

    Barriers you never notice.

Low-contrast text, images with no description, forms a screen reader cannot follow and menus that only work with a mouse lock people out. Most owners never find out, because those visitors simply leave.

  2. 02The cost

    Lost customers and legal exposure.

More than 1 in 4 U.S. adults report a disability, according to the CDC. When they cannot use your site they go elsewhere, and website accessibility complaints under the ADA affect businesses of every size.

  3. 03The fix

    Accessibility built into the site.

An audit against WCAG, fixes made in the code itself, and a site designed so every visitor can read it, navigate it and complete your forms.

What we do

Accessibility work that holds up to real use.

  • Accessibility audit

Automated scans of every page plus manual checks with a keyboard and a screen reader, measured against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 Level AA, with each issue explained in plain English.

  • Fixes in the code

We correct the underlying HTML, color, headings, labels and focus states, so assistive technology reads your site correctly instead of relying on a toolbar on top.

  • Accessible design from day one

Every new website we build is designed for readable contrast, clear structure and keyboard use, then tested before launch.

    Website design
  • Forms everyone can complete

Labelled fields, clear error messages and buttons that work by keyboard, so no lead is lost because a form could not be filled in.

  • Images, video and documents

Meaningful alt text for images, captions for video, and guidance on the PDFs and documents you publish.

  • Statement and monitoring

An accessibility statement that tells visitors how to reach you, and ongoing checks as pages and content change.

What the rules say

The standard everyone points to is WCAG.

This is general information, not legal advice. Talk to your attorney about your own obligations.

  • Businesses open to the public

The U.S. Department of Justice says the ADA applies to the goods and services businesses offer on the web. It does not set one technical standard, and names WCAG as helpful guidance.

  • State and local governments

A 2024 DOJ rule requires WCAG 2.1 Level AA, starting April 26, 2027 for governments serving 50,000 people or more and April 26, 2028 for smaller ones.

  • Health care providers with HHS funding

Recipients of HHS federal financial assistance must meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA by May 11, 2027 with 15 or more employees, or May 10, 2028 with fewer.

How it works

From audit to an accessible site.

You get a clear list of what needs fixing and why, a plan in order of impact, and proof that each fix works.

  1. Audit

Automated and manual testing of your key pages, templates and forms against WCAG Level AA.

  2. Prioritize

Issues ranked by how badly they block visitors, starting with navigation, forms and contact paths.

  3. Fix

Changes made in your theme, templates and content, or a rebuild where the old site cannot be fixed economically.

  4. Verify and monitor

Re-testing after every fix, an accessibility statement, and ongoing checks as your site grows.

No quick-fix widgets

Why we fix the code instead of adding an overlay.

Some products promise ADA compliance with one line of code that adds an accessibility toolbar to your site. A toolbar sits on top of the page, but screen readers and keyboards still have to work with the code underneath, and that code is unchanged. Many people who rely on assistive technology prefer sites that simply work without one.

We make the site itself accessible: the structure, the labels, the contrast and the forms. It is the approach the WCAG guidelines are written for, and it improves the site for every visitor and for search engines too.

  • Fixes that live in your site, not a third-party script
  • Better structure for search engines as a side effect
  • Documented results you can show if anyone asks

ADA website questions

Straight answers about website accessibility.

Does my business website have to be ADA compliant?

The Department of Justice says the ADA applies to the goods and services businesses open to the public offer online, and it points to WCAG as guidance. Your exact obligations depend on your business, so ask your attorney; we make the site itself accessible.

What is WCAG Level AA?

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are the international standard for accessible websites. Level AA is the level most rules and organizations reference. We test against WCAG 2.1 and the newer 2.2.

Will an accessibility plugin or overlay make my site compliant?

Not on its own. An overlay adds a toolbar but leaves the code underneath unchanged, and that code is what screen readers and keyboards actually use. We fix the site itself.

Can you guarantee we will never face an ADA claim?

No one honestly can. What we can do is find and fix the barriers, document the work, publish an accessibility statement and keep testing as the site changes, which puts you in a far stronger position.

How long does it take to make a website accessible?

It depends on the size of the site and how it was built. The audit gives you a prioritized list and an estimate. Many sites can fix the most serious barriers within a few weeks.

Are the websites you build accessible from the start?

Yes. Every website we design is built and tested against WCAG Level AA before launch, including its forms, menus and colors.
