So, not meaning to kick a (post)man while he’s down, I still have to ask: What logic makes you think that cutting back on your core service (delivering the mail) from 6 days to 5 will make things better?
Recent news articles in the New York Times stated ”
Total mail volume was 202 billion items last year, more than 9 billion less than the year before, the largest single volume drop in history.
Some of the reasons for this decline have cited competition from email and the Internet as well as private delivery services.
So here’s my suggestion: rather than whining about how hard life is in the big bad delivery world, pick yourself up from your 10 minute break, stop talking on your cell phone while delivering my mail to the wrong address, notice that the people in line are actually attracting cobwebs, stop shrugging your shoulders when I demand to know how my mail took 14 days to go from New Jersey to another address in New Jersey and IMPROVE YOUR SERVICE to your remaining customers!
And that’s just for starters.
