RIVER EDGE / RUTHERFORD / PARAMUS, N.J., February 10, 2009 — Ninety-five members and guests from 10 chapters of BNI, the world’s largest referral organization, cued up at Castle Billiards on Rt. 17 in Rutherford, February 4, for a 9-ball pool tournament and 50/50 charity raffle to benefit children and families in need.
Kathleen Velazquez, president of the BNI Sunrise Chapter of River Edge, presented a check for $255 to Madinah Grier, director of development and communications, of Children’s Aid and Family Services, Inc. (CAFS) of Paramus — one of northern New Jersey’s largest regional providers of human services and child welfare programs for more than 100 years.

Members of the winning BNI foursome in the double-elimination 9-ball tournament each received $25 gift certificates from Castle Billiards (Second photo, from left): Chuck Bins, Gene Sower, Mark Roodenburg, and Aron Wallad.
The event, co-sponsored by BNI Premier Chapter of Rutherford and the BNI Sunrise Chapter, was planned to coincide with International Networking Week and to highlight the value of business networking. Others participating included BNI chapters in: Paramus, Hackensack, Mahwah, Maplewood, North Bergen, a second chapter in River Edge, and one in New York.
BNI helps members generate valued business referrals for one another. There are about 225 members across eight chapters just in Bergen County. Each chapter allows only one person per profession. For more information, contact Larry Koller: 973-248-6448.
