WHAT DOES SEO MEAN?

Being in this business, sometimes I forget that not everyone knows what the term SEO means. Heck. I’m sure there are tons of folks out there who have no idea what Search Engine Optimization means, which is what the acronym SEO stands for.
SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the process of making a website more visable to the search engines which results in better and higher rankings. Better and higher rankings usually translates into more traffic which in turn usually translates into higher sales. In short, it’s a good thing to have your site “optimized”.
The thing about SEO is that many websites are designed without SEO in mind. Often, websites are designed by graphic artists and designers who are more focused on the aesthetic values of the site instead of the underlying code or programming where the world of Search Engine Optimization live.
My philosophy regarding SEO is that it shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. There’s almost no reason why a site can’t be cool and sexy or elegant and high-tech as well as fully optimized. The design and the SEO techniques should share a symbiotic relationship.
Now that you know what SEO is, our next blog post will discuss how to assess your own site’s SEO basics before going on to discussions about what to do to improve them.
